Spell Movies uses a small number of cookies, all of them ours. None of them tracks you across other websites, and there is no advertising or third party analytics software anywhere on this service.
What we use
| Name or purpose | What it does | Type | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sign in session | Keeps you signed in as you move between pages, and identifies your device so your plan's stream limit can be applied. | Strictly necessary | Until you sign out, or until the session expires. |
| spell_lang | Remembers the language you chose for the interface, so the page is in the right language and the right reading direction before it finishes loading. | Strictly necessary | One year. |
| Video delivery credentials | Short lived signed credentials that let your player fetch the video segments for the title you are watching, and only that title. | Strictly necessary | Minutes. They expire during playback and are reissued. |
| Your consent choices | Records whether you agreed to analytics, personalisation and marketing, and which version of our policies you were asked about, so we do not ask you again until something changes. | Strictly necessary | Stored on your account. Held in your browser only until you sign in. |
| Behavioural analytics | If, and only if, you agreed to it, records what you browsed, searched and watched so we can understand our audience and improve what we recommend. It is stored against a random identifier that is not your account. | Optional, consent required | Twenty six months. |
What we do not use
There is no advertising cookie, no advertising pixel, no social media button that reports back, and no third party analytics product on this service. We built the analytics ourselves precisely so that nobody else gets a copy of what you watch.
Your choices
The strictly necessary items cannot be turned off, because without them you cannot sign in or play a video. Everything else starts switched off. We ask once, we treat dismissing the banner as a no, and we do not ask again until we publish a new version of our policies.
You can change your answer at any time in the privacy section of your account. Your browser also lets you block or delete cookies, though blocking the necessary ones will stop the service working.
